The Safe Haven group has been involved in advocacy efforts with local school districts to address language justice, cultural supports, and equitable access to opportunities for youth and families. We partner with housing advocates to work on systemic solutions including more affordable housing, tenant rights & protections, and addressing discrimination and bias. (See our Community Safety initiative for more resources to support community members experiencing hate and bias.)
Many of our members worked to support local families impacted by anti-immigrant policies during Trump’s first administration, and we are strengthening our resources to prepare for 2025. Safe Haven members collaborated with the Eastside Legal Assistance Program to develop a resource guide for families at risk of detention and deportation. The King County Promotores Network took the lead in developing and publishing the guide, and trained over 100 community members (Promotoras) to share the information with others in the community. If you are interested in donating to help get the guide updated and translated into more languages, please contact Guillermo Rivera.
