Email Communication
When emailing your representatives in government, a school board, or other decision-making body, it’s helpful to include the following:
State which city or district you’re part of. If you’re comfortable, offering some specifics about yourself will help personalize your message and give important context to what you share. For example, “I am a mixed race Black and Asian resident in Redmond, and a full-time working mother of two school age children.”
Share the issue you’re commenting on and why it’s important to you.
Close with a call to action. What would you like to see happen? When possible, include talking points shared by local advocacy groups (see below). We’ll also provide messaging and suggestions on our Call to Action page.
Integrity, Equity, and Solidarity
Eastside For All follows calls to action from groups and organizations that are most closely impacted by the issues at hand. We do not initiate policies or propose actions in isolation. “Nothing about us without us.” We encourage allies to get to know advocacy groups, sign up for their alerts, and support their calls to action.
