We invite you to join us virtually on October 19th, 2026 from 6-7:30 PM for an Eastside Housing Equity-hosted event “Exploring Countywide Affordable Housing Revenue.” This event will be educational and a direct engagement opportunity with King County.

We are at a critical moment. King County Executive Zahilay is actively seeking input from community members related to the “Breaking the Cycle” initiative to inform the priorities of “a dedicated revenue source, including a county-wide housing levy, to support the building, siting, preservation, maintenance, and operations of emergency shelter and affordable housing in King County.” This will be put into actionable recommendations by December 31, 2026.

At this event, we will learn directly from King County about the housing funding context and the active process to consider a new affordable housing revenue source. After an educational presentation from the County, attendees will have opportunity to share their housing needs and stories directly with county leadership and shape the recommendations.

This is a rare moment when county leaders are actively considering a first-of-its-kind affordable housing levy on the ballot in 2027. Together, we can urge them to take bold action.

This event is hosted by the Eastside Housing Equity Coalition (EHEC), which is a collaboration between Eastside For All, Indian American Community Services, Muslim Community Network Association, Africans on the Eastside, and the Housing Development Consortium.

EHEC works together to advocate for housing policies that can address racial disparities and inequities, with the goal of making housing more affordable and accessible for everyone. The EHEC also aims to make elections and public engagement accessible to all communities on the Eastside.
