Eastside Conversations: Inclusive Budgeting for Affordable Housing
Please join the Eastside Housing Equity Coalition (EHEC) for HDC’s Affordable Housing Week. EHEC will host Eastside Conversations: Inclusive Budgeting for Affordable Housing on Wednesday, May 20 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at the Together Center in Redmond.
This fall, city budgets will be passed for the 2027-2028 biennium. We want to start conversations now in East King County to ensure that these processes reflect community needs in affordable housing and critical services. Budgets are a statement of values— they translate goals into funded priorities and actions.
This event is targeted at city staff that work on budgets and housing policies, local elected and appointed leaders, and policymakers as well as affordable housing providers, community members, advocates, and community-based organizations.
At this event, we will:
- Set the table with broad context about what biennial budgets are and why they are important. Include an outline of how people can share their voice in budget processes happening in Bellevue, Kirkland, and Redmond.
- Dialogue around how decision-makers can be more effective in engaging their communities to understand the need and priorities in the community especially as those relate to funding affordable housing capital, human services; operations, maintenance, & services (OMS); and community-based organization capacity and partnerships.
- Co-create inclusive budget processes and strategies to deepen understanding between decision-makers, affordable housing providers, and community members.
Lunch will be provided. Please register using this link: https://www.housingconsortium.org/events/#!event/register/2026/5/20/eastside-conversations-inclusive-budgeting-for-affordable-housing
Parking is available at the Together Center. For questions, please reach out to Brady Nordstrom.
